Abstract
From mining of raw materials to soil sealing, waste production, real estate speculation—the construction industry, together with its complex web of other, surrounding extractive domains, contributes to the staggering 40% of the current global CO2 emissions, thus also perpetuating different social, spatial, and environmental inequalities. Starting from here, this talk will frame care, repair, and maintenance, as foundations for a new spatial practice in the context of climate change. Drawing from the collaborative research, design, curatorial, and pedagogical work developed at the University of Luxembourg, the talk will consider alternative approach to architectural and urban planning.
