Recognition of secondary school leaving certificates (equivalence of diplomas)
Students wishing to enrol in the University of Luxembourg must request recognition of their secondary school leaving certificate, if and only if the diploma was not issued by the Luxembourg Ministry of Education.
Who is affected?
• Any candidate from the following secondary schools in Luxembourg:
- International School (International Baccalaureate) – Ecole privée Grandjean – St George’s International School – Lycée français du Luxembourg (Vauban) – Fräi-ëffentlech-Waldorfschoul Lëtzebuerg.
These secondary schools do not use the official curriculum of the Luxembourg Ministry of Education.
• Any candidate with a secondary school certificate from an institution in one of the signatory countries of the Paris Convention on the Recognition of Diplomas or the Lisbon Recognition Convention.
• Any candidate with a secondary school certificate from a European Union Member State.
Recognition of university or higher education qualifications (registration in the register of certificates)
In preparation for enrolment in a Master’s programme at the University of Luxembourg, any student who does not hold a Bachelor’s degree that corresponds to at least 180 ECTS according to the Bologna Framework, is issued by a higher education institution located in another EU/EEA Member State or in the Swiss Confederation, is recognised by the competent authorities of that state and certifies a higher education qualification recognised by the same competent authorities, must apply for the diploma to be registered in the higher education section of the register of certificates kept by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in Luxembourg.
