The Competence Centre is recognised for its ability to propose innovative training solutions that meet the educational objectives and the constraints and requirements of its various target audiences. Its multidisciplinary team includes specialists in continuing education and experts in face-to-face training and digital learning.
Through its integration into the University of Luxembourg, the Competence Centre’s team relies on the expertise of faculties and interdisciplinary training centres as well as on a network of highly qualified professional experts to develop quality programmes.
The Competence Centre’s activities align with three key strategic areas.
Key strategic areas
-
Academic Continuing Education (ACE)
In the key focus areas of the University (Health & Medicine, Digital Transition, Sustainability). This alignment to University of Luxembourg’s strategy and latest research provides credibility, where participants benefit from cutting edge information and expertise.
-
Lifelong Learning for Uni.lu employees and doctoral candidates
This includes providing professional development (up-skilling and re-skilling), leadership training, mentoring initiatives, and transversal skills training. This axis will federate existing but dispersed Uni.lu activities and resources.
-
Training for Luxembourg
The Competence Centre will offer several tailored training programs to address the specific needs of Luxembourg, particularly emphasizing existing activities in the health sector and ICT/digital learning and teaching.
All three areas will benefit from the Competence Centre’s expertise and tools in digital learning, which include online courses, MOOCs, webinars, and other flexible and accessible e-learning formats.
The new structure will be made available to university faculties and interdisciplinary centres to support them in setting up continuing education programs.
The University will develop a common framework for continuing education programmes and thus ensure harmonised quality assurance and practices. It is expected that the Competence Centre will federate existing but dispersed University activities, including the University of Luxembourg Leadership Academy (ULLA), ULearn, Transferable skills in Doctoral education, and diverse mentoring initiatives.
The new structure will be led by a university professor who will oversee seamless integration and effective communication within the academic community. Reporting directly to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, the Competence Centre will be positioned as a central structure, underscoring its strategic importance within the University.
