Abstract

The lack of information exchange between End-of-Life (EoL) processes and product designers at the Beginning-of-Life (BoL) often leads to misalignment, causing a huge waste of resources every year. By digitally replicating end-of-life processes in conjunction with a product design simulation tool, we seek to provide product designers with information about the impact of their design decisions. Our current use case is a PET bottle, where product design decisions can determine whether a product becomes a bottle again, is used in the clothing industry, or is incinerated.
