Abstract

Climate change is very much in the minds of people and at the core of policy action. The fact that population growth may well counter many effects of pro-climate policy actions is less openly discussed. The lecture focuses on the nexus between financial inclusion and sustainability, and argues that financial inclusion is the best cure not only to address the starvation of several hundred million people globally and further the economic well being of the rest, but also to prepare the world for climate change, and tackle some of its roots. The lecture concludes with an overview of financial inclusion policies in various fields, including Inclusive Green Finance, Gender Inclusion and System Risk Prevention through Financial Inclusion.
